Beef Bourguignon


Ingredients:

2 tbsp oil or shortening
2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1 ½ inch cubes
1 medium green pepper, cut into 2 inch pieces
1 cup slices or quartered fresh mushrooms
2 tbsp chopped onion or ½ tsp instant mince onion
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup dry red wine
1 2/3 cups drained, whole onions

Procedure:
Preheat oven 400°F. Place oil in 2½ quart casseroles. Add steak, green pepper, mushrooms and onion. Bake and uncovered, at 400°F for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven, stir in flour and salt. Blend in wine and whole onions. Cover and bake 30 minutes longer. Serve over noodles or rice.
