Citrus Simmered Steak


Imgredients:

1 ¾ to 2 lbs. round steak, cut 1 ¾ inches thick
2 tbsp cooking oil
½ cup drained mushroom pieces, if desired
½ cup (1 medium) onion slices
2 tbsp barbecue sauce or catsup
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp grated lemon peel
½ tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground thyme, if desired
¼ cup water
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 lemons, sliced

Procedures:
In large fry pan, brown meat in oil on both sides. Add mushrooms, onions, barbecue sauce, lemon juice, soy sauce, lemon peel, salt and thyme. Simmer and covered for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until meat is tender. Combine water, sugar, and cornstarch; stir to blend. Add cornstarch mixture and sliced lemon to meat mixture stir to blend. Continue simmering until sauce thickens.
